Hello world!

Today marks a very special day for me. People who know me, know that I have been talking (and therefor dreaming!) about this for many years, helping girls in Ghana. It has always been a ‘yeah I want to do that’ dream that was wayyyyyy over there ————> but finally the time has come that I have had the courage to actually do it! So today, with great pride, I launch Go Girl Ghana.

Go Girl Ghana was born when this loud, opinionated Dutch girl was humbled by meeting many girls with so much potential which they did not even realise they have. Incredibly strong, beautiful girls with the opportunity to change the world (and already changing mine) but most of whom were not in school. They do not dare to dream about a life outside the one they know, the one of poverty. Go Girl Ghana strongly believes that the key to break the cycle of poverty and unlock girls’ potential, is education. I am very happy that the communities have welcomed us to facilitate this change with them as they themselves are the ones who will need to respond for this change to be a sustainable one.

I am very thankful for the many people that have helped me and advised me along the way already, both here and in Ghana, which has really kept me going after all the hurdles I have had to take also. But mostly I am hopeful that I will be able to inspire people to help Go Girl Ghana and ultimately to inspire girls and their communities to keep their wonderful girls in school.

Please help me with the dream for all these girls and go to facebook.com/GoGirlGhana to like our page and share Go Girl Ghana with the world, follow me on Instagram and Twitter to keep up with our news, and go to our how to get involved page for the many options to help us further.
